Job Summary

  • A Mechanical AutoCAD Designer creates precise 2D/3D drawings & models for machinery, parts, and systems using AutoCAD, collaborating with engineers to translate concepts into manufacturable designs, ensuring accuracy, compliance with standards (GD&T), and managing documentation from initial sketches to final production prints, focusing on details, problem-solving, and efficient documentation. 

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Develop and refine detailed mechanical designs, components, and assemblies using AutoCAD.
    • Create 2D drawings, 3D models, schematics, and technical documentation (like BOMs).
    • Translate rough sketches, engineering notes, and concepts into precise digital formats.
    • Collaborate with engineers, production, and cross-functional teams to ensure design feasibility and functionality.
    • Incorporate feedback from design reviews and troubleshoot issues.
    • Ensure designs adhere to industry standards, tolerances (GD&T), and project specifications.
    • Manage drawing revisions, file organization, and project documentation. 

    Required Skills & Qualifications:

    • Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in AutoCAD (2D/3D), understanding of mechanical principles, GD&T, dimensioning, and manufacturing processes.
    • Software: AutoCAD; familiarity with other CAD tools like SolidWorks or Inventor is a plus.
    • Education: Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering/Drafting.
    • Soft Skills: High attention to detail, precision, strong problem-solving, good communication, and teamwork.
