Job Overview

Key Responsibilities & Performance Indicators

1. Systems Design & Integration

 Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure mechanical, electrical, and

software interfaces align perfectly during the first build.

 Maintain and audit the Bill of Materials (BOM) to ensure 100% accuracy in part

specification and sourcing.

 Success Metric: Achieve a high Integration Success Rate and minimize BOM-related

rework.

2. Research & Prototyping

 Develop "Look-and-Feel" and "Proof-of-Concept" models to validate design intent.

 Investigate emerging technologies and assess their viability for the current NPD

pipeline.

 Success Metric: Optimize Prototype Lead Time and contribute to the company's

Innovation Index.

3. Validation, Testing & Compliance

 Execute rigorous stress tests and reliability assessments on prototypes.

 Document failure points and assist in iterative design improvements.

 Success Metric: Meet or exceed target Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) during

validation phases.

4. Cost & Lifecycle Management

 Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles to reduce part counts and simplify

assembly processes.

 Monitor prototype expenses to ensure alignment with the commercial production

budget.

 Success Metric: Maintain strict Target Cost Adherence and improve DFM scores

compared to legacy products.

Qualifications

 Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering (or a

related field).

 Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360),

experience with BOM management, and familiarity with rapid prototyping (3D

printing, CNC, etc.).

 Soft Skills: Strong analytical thinking, a "fail fast, learn faster" mindset, and the ability

to communicate technical data to non-technical stakeholders.

 Experience: 0–2 years in a research, development, or manufacturing environment.
