A Housekeeping Staff member is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, hygiene, and overall appearance of assigned areas to ensure a safe, neat, and pleasant environment for guests, employees, and visitors. The role includes cleaning rooms, common areas, washrooms, and handling housekeeping equipment and supplies efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean and maintain rooms, offices, washrooms, corridors, lobbies, and common areas.
- Dust, sweep, mop, vacuum, and sanitize floors and surfaces regularly.
- Change bed linens, towels, curtains, and other housekeeping items when required.
- Refill toiletries, cleaning supplies, and room amenities.
- Dispose of waste and maintain proper garbage segregation practices.
- Report maintenance issues, damages, or safety hazards to supervisors.
- Operate housekeeping tools and cleaning equipment safely and effectively.
- Follow hygiene, sanitation, and safety standards at all times.
- Assist in inventory management of housekeeping materials and supplies.
- Respond politely and professionally to guest or customer requests.
- Ensure all assigned tasks are completed within the scheduled time.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in the workplace.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of cleaning procedures and housekeeping practices.
- Ability to use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physical stamina and ability to perform manual tasks.
- Attention to detail and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Minimum education: High School / SSC preferred.
- Prior housekeeping experience is an advantage.
Working Conditions
- May require standing, bending, lifting, and walking for extended periods.
- Flexible shifts including weekends, holidays, or night duties may be required.
- Work may be performed in hotels, hospitals, offices, residential buildings, or commercial establishments.
