Job Summary

The Microsoft 365 Cloud Backup Engineer is responsible for managing and supporting backup and recovery of Microsoft 365 workloads to ensure data protection, availability, and compliance. The role involves day‑to‑day monitoring, restoration activities, and support of third‑party M365 backup solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Microsoft 365 Backup & Recovery

Manage and monitor cloud backup for Microsoft 365 workloads, including:

Exchange Online

SharePoint Online

OneDrive for Business

Microsoft Teams

Perform restore operations for mailboxes, files, sites, and Teams data as per business requests.

Ensure backups run successfully as per defined schedules and retention policies.

Tool & Platform Support

Work with Microsoft 365 cloud backup solutions such as:

Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365

AvePoint

Commvault

Rubrik / Acronis (any one or more)

Assist in configuring backup jobs, repositories, and storage targets.

Monitor s, logs, and backup reports.

Incident & Support

Respond to backup failures and data recovery incidents.

Troubleshoot basic backup and restore issues and escalate when required.

Support ransomware recovery and accidental deletion scenarios.

Security & Compliance

Follow organizational data retention and compliance policies.

Support audit requirements by providing backup logs and reports.

Ensure secure handling of backup data.

Required Skills

Technical Skills

Hands‑on experience with Microsoft 365 cloud services

Working knowledge of cloud backup and recovery concepts

Experience with at least one Microsoft 365 backup solution

Understanding of:

Backup schedules and retention

RPO and RTO basics

Azure AD fundamentals
