Online Assessment System for Education Technology - Online Tests
TCS SMBOnline Assessment System
Assessment anywhere
In our time, we had to be punctually present at examination halls for taking exams. Things got simpler with online exams on the web. These were usually carried out through authorized centres, who would govern the authenticity of the examinee and his conduct. Yet, online systems like these still do not overcome the challenges we see today, especially when education has become more open and distant. The likelihood of questions are being leaked, and web sites going down as it is stormed by too many applicants, are some of nightmares examiners have.

So now we talk about a third generation examination system. It is neither purely online nor totally offline, but both. It works in two phases:
Applications
The online application form can be designed with pre-defined or new fields. You can divide it into sections so that screening is easy. Application fees can also be collected through different payment modes such as bank deposit, credit card, or a scratch card. The admit card can then be auto-generated. In brief, the admission form supported by backend process workflow, is hosted by us and is available everywhere.
Examinations
You have a centralized question bank, which churns out different set of questions for each centre. The questions can physically be carried to the centre using "briefcase software", which is just a laptop that poses as a host as soon as it is connected to the centre's LAN. After the students finish, the answers are uploaded to the central system where all the ratings happen.

Some questions you may have:
How does it take care of leakages?
  • Questions are dynamically. churned out based on parameters
  • Each student or centre may get a different set
  • The "briefcase software" keeps it all encrypted
How does it ensure it runs when the internet is down?
  • Exams are hosted Exams are hosted at each centre within the centre's LAN
  • The answers are consolidated by physically carrying back the laptop, or can be uploaded
We have different types of questions and varying difficulty levels
  • Pictorial questions, multi-choice, qualitative questions - they are all supported
  • A question can be configured with parameters, so that each instance has a different answer
  • You can set difficulty levels for the questions when they are churned out
